While East Providence City Hall seems to applaud this destruction of the Historic Donald Ross Golf Course for economic development , Keep Metacomet Green is and will be fighting to save this land. EP had the chance to save this land when the courses tax bills started piling up. A lightbulb went off somewhere for the Course to be entered into a very questionable opportunity zone where golf courses are considered a sin tax. Why include the course if you can’t get the huge tax breaks the opp zone offers ? Was there a plan ahead of time? Was Brad Faxon used as a pawn? We do know original lawyer at the time Senator Bill Conley, was responsible for introducing the opportunity zone for Metacomet. Former lawyer Joe Shekarchi had to step aside to take the helm of Rhode Island as the Speaker of the House.
I’m not sure why this opportunity zone has not been looked into by the Federal government. Or do I?
