Brad Faxon Inducted Into Barrington Heritage Hall of Fame

Rhode Island’s Brad Faxon is among the first-ever inductees into the Barrington Heritage Hall of Fame, the town announced on Wednesday.

Over the last year and a half, or so, Faxon has drawn the ire of Rhode Islanders after he, along with a group of investors, bought Metacomet Golf Club in East Providence with a promise to restore it.

After just one year of ownership, and seemingly not a ton of effort put in, the group flipped it for development to Marshall.

The course closed for good at the end of September, and its equipment and furnishings have since been sold at an auction.

Aside from Metacomet

Other than the debacle at Metacomet, Faxon, along with Billy Andrade have run the CVS Health Charity Classic since 1999.

This year, the tournament was canceled due to Covid, but still managed to raise $1.5 million, benefiting 90 local charities through virtual events.

Since its inception, the tournament has raised more than $25 million for local charities.

On the PGA Tour, Faxon recorded eight wins and got as high as #11 in the world.

To this day, he is considered one of the best putters in the history of the game and currently works with Rory McIlroy.
