10 Quotes that Defined the 2022 Rhode Island Golf Season

Throughout the course of the 2022 golf season, GolfNewsRI interviewed dozens and dozens people involved in the game of golf in Rhode Island.

From rising stars to current stars and golf executives, this past season had it all and GolfNewsRI was there to provide the best coverage around.

With that said, we thought it would be cool to sum up the 2022 season by using some of the great quotes that we got from interviews and podcasts.

Below are the ten quotes that defined the 2022 Rhode Island Golf season:

Winnapaug’s Nick Scola on Saving RI Junior Am:

“Winnapaug Golf Club is thrilled to be the host of this years RI Junior Amateur Event. As an organization it is central to our mission to always remain focused on the golf community and we are proud that our course has become the partner to host the full event this year.”

Addy Douglas on Last Semester of College Golf:

“There is not going to be another one of these, so you are going to have to do the best that you can and never give up at any point, because this time next year you will probably be in an office or in a classroom getting your MBA. You are not going to be playing golf on a random Tuesday.”

Will Dickson on earning first pro victory:

“I finally understood what it means when guys say ‘it’s just hard to win.’ That playoff was so fun. We both hit great shots, I just happened to make a couple of putts when I needed it most.”

Brad Adamonis talks exclusively to GolfNewsRI about his continued pursuit of a dream:

“I’m playing golf, I’m lucky. I’ve been fortunate to have good sponsors that let my dream stay alive, so I’m lucky. It’s just golf basically, try and do the best I can and be better at golf.”

Max Jackson on winning 2nd straight high school title, La Salle dominance:

“This year definitely felt a littler closer than last year, Harry was playing great. Coming down the stretch there was definitely a lot of pressure. But this one feels different. We have a clean sweep this year, boys individual, girls individual and team so I’m glad that I did my part.”

Billy Andrade in exclusive comments to GolfNewsRI on end of CVS Charity Classic:

“I am so proud to be a part of history hosting the CVS Health Charity Classic. 23 Years was an amazing run. Big thanks to my partner and friend, Brad Faxon, for hosting with me.”

FCG Associates Retains Bid to Operate/Manage Triggs, Karl Augenstein Talks:

“I’ve been at Triggs for 32 years. There are things that have to be improved, obviously, I don’t deny that. As a legacy for me, I really want to see through all these improvements that we proposed and bring Triggs to the next level. Make it as Bob Ward said, top five in the country.”

Patrick Welch on returning to Oklahoma for 5th Year

“It was a pretty easy decision. I love OU. The coaches there have treated me like family, my teammates, they are my best friends. Especially with the PGA Tour U rankings, I was hovering around the 15 mark and with that kind of thing you have to take a chance on yourself. Are you going to stay in (PGA Tour U) and hope to get in, or start at a better ranking next year and improve on that. So that’s what I wanted to do, my game is good enough to play another year and I feel like if I was ready to turn pro I would know, and I don’t think I’m ready yet.”

Davis Chatfield Says Goodbye to Northeast Amateur, turns pro

“It’s been great. The membership, they put so much into it. They love this tournament so much, they mark it off as the most fun week of the year and it never disappoints. So just thankful for the membership, the staff and everyone who puts this together, it’s awesome.”

Valley Country Club Staying Open, Contract Torn Up:

“Valley Country Club isn’t going anywhere! It’s official, and we are so excited to continue being a prominent RI golf course, event venue, and so much more like we have for the past 73 years. Our restaurant & golf course is open to the public, and memberships are also available with preferred tee times and so much more. We’re so excited for all that the future holds and look forward to more amazing memories made right at Valley Country Club.”
