Renovation of Wannamoisett Named One of 2022’s Most Notable

The massive renovation of Wannamoisett Country Club is getting national recognition.

GolfPass has named Wannamoisett as on of its top 22 most notable renovations of 2022 in the country.

“This compact, par-69 Donald Ross gem is in the midst of a restoration by architect Andrew Green, whose work at other big-time Ross courses like Oak Hill East in New York and Inverness in Ohio has won him acclaim as one of the best architects in the business,” writes GolfPass.

The renovation is Wannamoisett.

Back in November, GolfNewsRI got an exclusive first look at the renovation, including an interview with Andrew Green.

Green told GolfNewsRI that he was hoping the renovation would be done by Christmas of 2021.

The Renovation

Prior to the exclusive interview with Green, Wannamoisett head pro Ed Clark told GolfNewsRI, “We are changing the greens back to the original shapes that Donald Ross designed. We have a lot of the original green pads around and when Andrew saw them, he said we have to use this.”

The other change that Wannamoisett is making will be to the bunkering.

According to Clark, Green and his staff will be renovating every bunker on the course, as well as, fixing the placements of the bunkers to keep up with the modern game.

Clark says the project will be completed by the Spring.

“Aesthetically, the course is going to be totally different,” Clark says.

Wannamoisett previously underwent a renovation in 2008.
