CVS Health Charity Classic Ends After 23-Year Run

After an incredible 23-year run, the CVS Health Charity Classic is no more.
The tournament hosted by Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon and held at Rhode Island Country Club had raised more than $25 million since its inception in 1999.
Due to Covid, the last tournament was played in 2019, and the event went virtual in 2020.

“As we transition our focus from the Charity Classic to the CVS Foundation Hometown Fund, we thank our co-hosts, Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade, our colleagues and our non-profit partners for their partnership and shared commitment to our local communities,” said Mike DeAngelis, senior director of CVS corporate in a statement.
The Crave Food Festival was also canceled.
The last winners of the CVS Classic was the team of Keegan Bradley, Brooke Henderson and Billy Andrade.
The first ever winners was the team of Justin Leonard and Davis Love III.
Over the years, the tournament has featured players like Arnold Palmer, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Annika Sorenstam, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis and more.

What a shame…….one of the few opportunities to see the pros compete live in New England has now closed its run. I worked as a marshal and walking scorer there many times, with my fondest memory being the year I got to walk with Natalie Gulbis and her group. She is a great person and so lovely. Many thanks to Billy and Brad for all they did to help so many folks, and also to CVS for hosting such a wonderful event!
