Valley Country Club Timeline
Earlier this week, GolfNewsRI reported that Valley Country Club in Warwick is under contract to be sold.
The buyers have not yet been disclosed, but the golf course will remain for at least another year or two, according to General Manager Melodi Caruso.
Over the last year or so, GolfNewsRI has reported extensively on the situation at Valley, below is a timeline of that reporting.

May 26, 2020
GolfNewsRI reports that rumors of Valley being sold are false after conversations with board members and others.
The rumors started with a post by a former Valley employee.
Valley later sent a letter to membership saying that the club had not been sold.
October 10, 2020
GolfNewsRI obtains a letter from Valley’s Majority Shareholders to membership saying that the club will remain a golf course in 2021.
“Regardless of what you may have heard, you have now heard it from the source. We guarantee that Valley Country Club will be here for our loyal members in the 2021 golf season,” writes the Shareholders.
The Shareholders do acknowledge that they are researching the option of becoming a semi-private golf course.
“It is fair to disclose that we are researching the option of becoming a semi-private golf course, where members will still have first priority. There will also be loyalty savings for those of you who make an early commitment to next season,” the Shareholders write.

Valley opens its restaurant to the public.
This announcement comes less than a month after Majority Shareholders said they are researching the option of becoming a semi-private golf course.
February 26, 2021
Valley General Manager Melodi Caruso joined the Jobs and Work Podcast to discuss the state of the club.
Caruso talked about the decision to go semi-private and its restaurant is open to the public.
“There had been talk about it for a long time, so they (members) weren’t shocked by it. Members who didn’t want to do it left, and I’m good with that,” said Caruso on the podcast.
She reveals that Valley lost more than 100 members.

The Golf Dudes played Valley Country Club as part of a tournament to benefit the Marfan Foundation.
The greens and tee boxes were amazing, the fairways – not so much.
It should be noted that, GolfNewsRI has recently (within the last week) heard the fairways have come back and the course is in good shape.

GolfNewsRI breaks that Valley Country Club is under contract to be sold.
“While there is a contract for sale of the Club’ property, that contract is subject to numerous contingencies and requires various approvals that must be obtained before any sale could actually take place. At this time, the process to secure those approvals is taking longer than initially anticipated, so we are currently making plans for the future,” Valley General Manager Melodi Caruso told GolfNewsRI.
