RIGA Issues Statement on Closure of Metacomet
Almost a week after Metacomet Golf Club closed its doors for good, the Rhode Island Golf Association (RIGA) has issued a statement.
Metacomet’s last day was on Wednesday, September 30.
Since then, Marshall has taken over the property and a chain link gate has been put up across the entrance, as GolfNewsRI has reported.
RIGA’s Statement is as Follows:
“We are heartbroken at the loss of Metacomet. We had a great relationship with them for the past 118 years and are sad to see that end.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all past members, golf professionals, superintendents and club leadership who played a part in that connection.”

Thank Brad faxon and company for that!
Metacomet was designed by Donald Ross and destroyed by Brad Faxon.
How much money is enough, Brad? Shame on you!
So sad. The Met has been so busy the last few months, it was difficult to secure a tee time. Why should this beautiful Donald Ross treasure be destroyed??
