Chatfield Earns Top 5 Finish at PGA Tour’s ISCO Championship
Former Rhode Island Amateur Champion Davis Chatfield earned the best finish of his PGA Tour career this week at the ISCO Championship.
Chatfield finished the tournament in a tie for fifth overall at 14-under par for the week.
“I feel like overall like the last few months I’ve been super close. I feel like it was just a couple things here and there that went a long way. What it boils down to I guess is I was playing golf swing and I wasn’t playing golf. I was thinking way too much of mechanics and things that I shouldn’t be. The last two weeks I kind of let go of that and it’s showing in the scorecard so it’s nice to see,” Chatfield told the media after the round.
Chatfield posted rounds of 68, 64, 66 and a final round 68 on the week.
He is expected to move up from 167 to 144 on the FedEx Cup points list with four regular season events left.
“This gives me the confidence to know that I can win and be in contention any week. Like I said, like I feel like I’ve been really close the last few months and to see it come to fruition this week is really special,” said Chatfield.
The former Notre Dame star will tee it up next week at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
It is an opposite field event to The Open Championship.
