Stonehill College Purchases Easton CC for $6.5 Million
Stonehill College has announced the purchase of Easton Country Club.
According to Providence Business News (PBN), the 150-acre course was sold to Stonehill for $6.5 million.
“This acquisition is a natural and meaningful extension of Stonehill’s mission. It will help increase our capacity to enrich the experiences of all students across academics, athletics, recreation and community engagement. As we undertake this exciting initiative, we are committed to stewarding this land in ways that benefit not only our campus community but also our neighbors in Easton and surrounding cities and towns,” said Stonehill President Rev. John Denning, C.S.C. in a statement.
Stonehill is about three miles from Easton CC.
According to PBN, the Purchase and Sale Agreement was signed last weekend and the deal is expected to be closed by the end of March.
Future of Easton CC
According to the school, Easton CC will stay a semi-private golf course that will be accessible to Stonehill students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as, the local golf community.
General Manager Mark Lombardi will remain in charge and the club will remain “committed to public access, league play, events and existing club programming.”
Easton CC will serve as the home course for the women’s golf team and the launch of a new men’s golf team in 2027-28.
Both the women’s and men’s teams are set to compete in Division I.
