GolfNewsRI is Official Media Partner of Devon Quigley Memorial Tournament

GolfNewsRI is the official media partner of the Devon Quigley Memorial Golf Tournament.

Quigley passed away in October of 2023, 12 years after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a car accident down in Florida.

“This event is designed to remind us of the incredible courage Devon showed throughout his unrelenting fight to come back to us after his traumatic brain injury in the accident. Not a day went by when he didn’t give every ounce of energy to that battle.  And he did it with grace, determination, faith, and constant humor,” said URI Head Coach Gregg Burke, who is putting together the event along with the Quigley family.

The Devon Quigley Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, August 18 at Crestwood Country Club.

The tournament is seeking players, donations, silent auction prizes and more.

“We are honored that the Quigley family will include URI golf in any money raised but, again, this is about Dev and not URI Golf, which he loved with all his heart,” added Burke.

A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the East Providence High School Golf Team.

To RSVP or make a monetary or silent auction item donation, contact Gregg Burke at gburke@uri.edu.

About Quigley

Quigley is the son of Rhode Island legend Dana Quigley and cousin of Brett Quigley.

He played high school golf at East Providence before attending URI, where he was part of the golf team.

In 2011, Quigley suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident that left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, unable to speak.

He passed away at the age of 39 in 2023.

“Devon D. Quigley has passed and is free of his earthly chains. It is an indescribable loss,” wrote Burke in an article posted to GolfNewsRI shortly after Quigley passed.

A few months after Quigley passed, URI established the Devon Quigley Courage Award, with more coming.
