Preston Stout Ties Wannamoisett Course Record During Northeast Am
Oklahoma State’s Preston Stout tied the Wannamoisett course record during the second round of the Northeast Amateur on Thursday.
Stout fired an eight-under 61 to rocket 28 spots up the leaderboard and into first place.
“Obviously, a lot of great players have come through and played here so to be able to come through and tie the course record is pretty awesome. I’m really proud of myself,” said Stout after the round.

Stout joins Karl Vilips and Luke Guthrie as the only players to card a 61 during the Northeast Amateur.
He will now look to take this momentum into the weekend.
“Just try to stay with my process. I’m going to get something to eat, chill, rest a little bit. Just try to take the momentum that I have into tomorrow,” Stout said.
As of this publishing, Stout holds a one-shot lead over Miles Russell.
Stout’s Round
Entering round two in the middle of the pack, Stout opened the day with a bogey on the second hole before making a major move.
Stout nearly aced the third hole and made the tap in birdie to get back to even.
“Yea I hit that one tight. They played nice and moved the tee up for us today. With that front pin and the slope, it was an easy one to get close,” said Stout.
He birdied the next three holes before closing with three pars to turn at 31.
On the back side, Stout dropped a birdie on the 11th hole, another on the 13th and then made eagle on the 14th to begin to threaten the scoring record.
Following pars on 15 and 16, Stout made birdie on 17, but couldn’t get his birdie putt from the fringe on 18 to drop.
He carded a back-nine 30, for a total of 61.
