Vinny Papa Wins Nutmeg Junior Championship
Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa won the Nutmeg Junior Championship on Sunday afternoon at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club in Connecticut.
Papa beat New Hampshire’s Madelyn Savary in a playoff to claim the title.
Both players finished at 12-over par in regulation for the two day event.
Papa carded back-to-back rounds of 76, while Savary posted rounds of 77 and a second round 75 to tie the lead.
Adriana Eaton finished fourth at 20-over par for the tournament.
Boys Tournament
On the boys side, Prout star Rocco Capalbo finished in a tie for 13th overall at 13-over par.
The defending High School State Champion carded rounds of 78 and 75.
He was the only Rhode Islander in the boys field.
New Hampshire’s Josiah Hakala won the boys tournament.
