NBC Parts Ways with Paul Azinger as Lead Golf Analyst

Paul Azinger will not return to the commentary booth for NBC this upcoming golf season.

NBC has decided not to renew his contract.

“We want to thank Paul for his work with us over the last five years. His insights, his work ethic and relationships in the golf industry are well known, and we appreciate what he brought to our team. We wish Paul the best in his future endeavors,” NBC said in a statement given to Golf Digest.

Azinger has been with the network since 2015 and took over the lead analyst role in 2019 when Johnny Miller retired.

“I have treasured working beside Dan Hicks and the other talented NBC broadcasters as well as lead producer Tommy Roy and all those behind the scenes. They are a remarkable team, and I will miss them tremendously. My thanks to them and the countless others who have supported me and helped me along the way during my work in television. I have faith in what the future holds for me, for NBC, and for the great game of golf,” said Azinger in a statement on Sunday.

There is no official announcement on who will be taking his place in the booth.

According to Golf Digest sources, this could be part of a major overhaul to the NBC golf coverage and Golf Channel.
