Sam Fuentes Signs National Letter of Intent with Bryant Golf

Coventry’s Sam Fuentes has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Bryant University next fall.
Fuentes verbally committed to Bryant in October via social media, as GolfNewsRI reported.
Fuentes will be coming to Bryant from Coventry High School in RI where he was a 2x All State Golfer. In his first attempt Sam qualified for the 2023 US Junior Amateur at Daniel Island GC, Charlston, SC. Sammy played extremely well just missing a spot in match play. Sam also made match play at the RI State Amateur bowing out in the Round of 16 to current Bulldog Rocco Biafore,” said Bryant Head Coach Charlie Blanchard in a statement.

He adds, “A baseball player turned golfer, Sam quickly became one of the top juniors in the New England Region. Sam is a threat to win each time he tees it up. Sam’s athletic profile and work ethic affords him tremendous upside to bring his game to the next level. Fun fact: Sam has competed in National Championships in two different sports. In addition to this past summer’s US Jr Amateur, Sam competed for Coventry Little League in the 2018 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Sam continues to grow as a golfer but possesses tremendous assets and an on-course demeanor that is beyond his years. He will provide much needed consistency to the lineup. We are extremely excited to have Sam joining us next year.”
The Bulldogs also announced that they have a commitment from Connectict’s Cole Banning.
Joining Bryant
Arriving at Bryant next year, Fuentes will join a roster that includes fellow Rhode Islander Rocco Biafore, who just recently made his collegiate debut.
The Bulldogs are losing three seniors and a grad student after this season, including star player Tyler Dupuis.
They will look to players such as Aidan Azevedo, Patrick Gallagher and Cael Kohan to lead them next season, with help from a core of youngsters.
