RI’s Morrell Finishes 7th at PGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship
Rhode Island native and new Warwick Country Club Assistant Pro Sam Morrell finished in solo seventh at the PGA Women’’s Stroke Play Championship this week in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Morrell posted a three-day score of 219, including rounds of 75, 72 and 72 to finish in seventh place by herself.
The former North Kingstown high school star finished ten shots behind winner Sandra Changkija.
For her efforts, Morrell takes home $560.
She was the only Rhode Islander in the field and one of only two competitors from New England.
As GolfNewsRI reported, Morrell joined the Warwick Country Club staff as an assistant pro at the end of 2022.
