Papa Finishes 18th at Notah Begay III National Championship
Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa finished in a tie for 18th at the Notah Begay III National Championship on Saturday at Kaasati Pines in Louisiana.
Papa posted a final round 76 to finish five-over for the tournament and in 18th with two other players.
The tournament was won by Ziyi Zhao, who finished at six-under par and led pretty much wire-to-wire.
There were a total of 30 competitors in Papa’s age group.
Papa’s Final Round
Papa opened the round with a par on the first hole, but back-to-back bogeys sent her down the leaderboard.
After four straight pars, Papa closed the front nine with bogeys on the eighth and ninth holes to turn at 40.
On the back side, Papa birdied the 11th hole, but bogeyed the 13th hole.
She was even par for the back and shot 76 overall.
