Team Rhode Island heads into this week’s Tri-State Matches seeking to win the trophy for the first time since 2001.

This year’s matches are being held at The Aquidneck Club on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 8:30 a.m.

When RI won in 2001, the matches were held at Newport Country Club, so perhaps home cooking will pay off.

Last year, team Rhode Island entered the final day with a three point lead, before losing to Team Massachusetts.

Tuesday’s sessions are alternate shot and then afternoon singles.

The tournament concludes with four-ball matches on Wednesday.
