The Recovery & Return of Tiger Woods: A Timeline

Tiger Woods is set to return to golf this weekend at the PNC Championship with his son Charlie.
While this is not exactly a return to the PGA Tour just yet, it does mark significant progress for Woods, who suffered a comminuted open fracture in his right leg after a near fatal roll over car crash back in February.
“Although it’s been a long and challenging year, I am very excited to close it out by competing in the PNC Championship with my son Charlie. I’m playing as a dad and couldn’t be more excited and proud,” Woods wrote in a statement on Twitter.
Here is a timeline of events:
December 20, 2020

Tiger and Charlie Woods play in the PNC Championship for the first time. It is also the world’s first look at Charlie, and needless to say, he had everyone captivated. The two finished in seventh place in the tournament.
January 19, 2021
In what was a surprise to many, Woods announced that he was having a fifth back surgery, this one a micodiscectomy. He announced that he would miss at least the Farmers Insurance Open and the Genesis Invitational.
February 21, 2021
During the Genesis Invitational, Woods does an interview on CBS with Jim Nantz. He did not look right during the interview, large bags under his eyes. It was kind of awkward.
February 23, 2021

The day that shook the golf and sports world. Woods was involved in a single-car rollover crash just outside of Los Angeles on his way to a shoot for Golf Digest. He was rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery where doctors put a rod, screws and pins in his leg to hold it together.
February 25, 2021
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff, no charges were going to be filed in the accident. Though, to this day, there remain plenty of questions and very few answers.
March 16, 2021
After nearly a month out in California, Tiger Woods returned home to continue his recovery. In a statement, he thanked doctors, his family and fans for the support.
April 23, 2021
Tiger Woods posts a photo of himself on Instagram for the first time since the accident. The photo showed him on crutches and in a massive walking boot.
November 21, 2021
Tiger Woods posts video of him hitting balls on the range. The video nearly broke the internet and sent the golf world into a buzz.
November 25, 2021
A report surfaced that the PNC Championship was holding a spot in the tournament for Tiger Woods and his son Charlie.
November 30, 2021

Woods made his first public appearance since the Genesis Invitational where he served as host of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. On the Tuesday of the event, Woods spoke to the media where he disregarded all questions about the accident. He did say his goal was to return to the Tour, but not full time.
December 2-5, 2021
During the Hero World Challenge, Woods was seen hitting balls on the range every single day. On the final day of the tournament, he wore his famous red shirt and even hit drivers on the range.
December 8, 2021

Tiger Woods commits to the PNC Championship with Charlie. According to sources, he is playing in the pro am on Friday before his media availability in the afternoon. The actual tournament begins on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
