Vinny Papa Set to Take on Girls Junior PGA Championship at Famed Valhalla

Pinecrest’s Vincenza “Vinny” Papa has touched down in Louisville, Kentucky and Valhalla Golf Club for the Girls Junior PGA Championship. 

Papa advanced to this point after winning the NEPGA Jr. Championship earlier this month in Massachusetts. 

“I am going to line up against the best in the world. Excited to represent Rhode Island and all of New England,” Papa told GolfNewsRI in an email following that win.

Papa is the only player from Rhode Island in the field at Valhalla.

The Girls Junior PGA Championship is a 72-hole stroke pay event with a cut after 36 holes. 

The cut includes the top 70 players and ties. 

The tournament begins on Tuesday, July 27.
