Vinny Papa Wins NEPGA Jr. Championship
Rhode Island’s Vincenza Papa posted back-to-back rounds of 73 to win the girls division of the NEPGA Jr. Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Shaker Hills in Massachusetts.
The win sends Papa to the PGA Jr. Championship later this month at Valhalla in Kentucky.
“I am going to line up against the best in the world. Exited to represent Rhode Island and all of New England,” Papa told GolfNewsRI in an email.

Vinny shot a two-day score of 146 (2-over) to win the tournament by ten shots over Lillian Guleserian.
Papa’s Final Round
Playing alongside her sister, Gianna, in the final round, Vinny opened with two bogeys on the front nine to get to two-over for the day.
On the back, she made par on the first seven holes, before dropping a birdie putt on 17 and saving par on 18 to finish one-over for the day.
RI Boys Struggle
Narragansett’s Sebastian Carlsson was the highest RI finisher on the boys side.
He finished 13-over for two days, good enough for 12th place.
Joshua Speel finished 28th and Nick Emery finished 31st.
