USGA Changes to Handicap System Take Effect Next Week

The USGA’s changes to the handicap system (GHIN) for the 2021 season take effect next week.

GolfNewsRI reported on the changes back in November.

GHIN users will need to create a Digital Profile by January 18.

Beginning the next day, the USGA will log all users out of the app and require them to log back in and update the app using their email.

If users don’t create a profile, they will only be able to post scores using the computer system at their respective clubs.

Another change to the system is the Minor Guardian.

Those golfers who are under 13-years-old will not be able to create a profile, provide an email or get into the mobile app or Ghin.com.

Their profiles must be connected to a guardian who can access the GHIN apps and post for them.

This also takes effect next week.
