URI Finishes 10th at River Run Collegiate
The University of Rhode Island golf team finished in solo tenth this week at the River Run Collegiate down in North Carolina.
The Rams finished with a team score o 36-over par for the week.
Freshman Jack Quinn earned his first top 20 finish of his collegiate career with a tie for 18th at five-over par, while no other Ram was inside the top 30.
“Jack emerged this week and is our best player right now. Tony Liu and Josiah Tong played a lot of very good golf and aside from the final round, Owen Rooney was terrific,” said head Coach Gregg Burke.
Liu finished in a tie for 32nd at nine-over par for the week, while Josiah Tong finished in a tie for 38th at ten-over par.
Rooney finsihed in a tie for 52nd overall at 14-over for the week.
Bennett Masterson followed up the scoring at 38-over par and in solo 73rd.
“We’ve done more qualifying than practicing, so hopefully having more practices will make us a little sharper,” added Burke.
URI is right back in action at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse from Sunday, Sept. 27 through Tuesday, Sept. 29.
