URI Releases 2026 Fall Schedule
The University of Rhode Island golf team released its 2026 fall schedule on Monday.
Rhode Island will play five tournaments in the fall starting on September 12 and run through October 27.
‘The most notable aspect of this year’s schedule is pretty obvious. Although we won four tournaments last Fall, we will not be returning to any of them. Sacred Heart changed the dates of its tournament, and LIU changed coaches. Winning the Ryan T. Lee last year actually hurt our NCAA ranking, and we are going to Mexico instead of Iona’s wonderful tournament at Wykagyl. Clearly the replacement events are a strong upgrade to the first semester schedule of a year ago and takes us to places we’ve never been,” said URI Head Coach Gregg Burke.
Rhody is coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which they advanced tot he post season for the second straight year.
They finished third at the National Golf Invitational.
2026 Fall Schedule
URI opens the season on September 12 at the Doc Gimmler at Bethpage State Park.
It will be the first time the Rams have played this tournament since the 2019-20 season.
“Going back to the Gimmler is a treat for us. We love Bethpage and have a great deal of respect for coach Phil Wildermuth,” said Burke.
Next up, Rhody will play in the River Run Collegiate from September 21-22, and then the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse.
That caps off a stretch of two tournaments in eight days.
Rhode Island will then have a week off before heading to the Moraine Intercollegiate in Ohio from October 12-13.
Rhody closes the fall schedule with a trip to Mexico for the Monterrey Collegiate Classic.
“Playing in Mexico will be a treat,” Burke said. “It is a unique tournament in format and location. We ae very excited about finishing the Fall season in Mexico,” added Burke.
