LIV Golf Cancels Team & Individual Championships

LIV Golf announced the cancelation of its Team and Individual Championship which was set to take place later this month in Michigan.

This week’s tournament in Indianapolis will be the final event of LIV’s 2026 season.

“By concluding the season now, we can put our full resources behind what comes next and maintain the operational rigor this transition demands. We are reimagining LIV Golf as a fundamentally new League owned by the players and anchored in a sustainable business model, with an evolved fan experience built for the markets where the game is growing fastest across the globe and the support of world-class partners,” said LiV CEO Scott O’Neill in a press release..

The cancellation comes just a week or so after O’Neil announced that LIV secured funding to keep the tour alive.

It should be noted that no investor was identified, neither was an amount of money.

According to ESPN, O’Neil and LIV, are seeking up to $300 million in funding to keep the league in business.

“As we concentrate on finishing the season strong and building the next chapter of LIV Golf, we’ll carry the energy and enthusiasm our fans have shown us into what comes next. The road ahead is possible because of the people who stand behind this League – our fans, players, caddies, employees, partners and sponsors,” added O’Neil.

The Indianapolis tournament will be LIV’s 12th event of the season, the smallest schedule they have played since their inception in 2022.

Jon Rahm has already clinched the individual title for the season and the team title will be decided this week.

Regarding this week, LIV also announced that the scheduled Thomas Rhett and Disco Lines concerts have been canceled.
