Francoeur, Welch in Contention Heading to Weekend
Former URI star Chris Francoeur and Classical grad Patrick Welch are in contention heading into the weekend at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Boise Open.
Francoeur opened with a first round 65 and backed it up with a second round 67 to sit at 10-under par for the tournament.
He is in a tie for 17th overall and four shots back of the lead.
Francoeur tees off at 2:45 p.m. with Tyler Duncan.
Welch opened with a first round 70, but fired a second round 64 to climb 63 spots up the leaderboard and make the cut easily.
The former Oklahoma star is eight under for the tournament and in a tie for 27th overall.
He tees off at 2:05 p.m. with former Oklahoma teammate Quade Cummins.
