Hellring Leads RI Stroke Play Championship After Round 1
Former Rhode Island Junior Amateur champion Jesse Hellring holds a one shot lead over Caden Capalbo following round one of the Rhode Island Stroke Play Championship.
Hellring fired a five-under 67 at Alpine Country Club, while Capalbo finished the first round with a four-under 68.
Sebastian Carlsson and defending champion Harry Dessel both sit a three-under, while Austin Cilley, Mike Hamilton and former Rhode Island Amateur champion Jamie Lukowicz sit at two-under.
Hellring, who plays high school golf down in Florida, won the 2024 Rhode Island Junior Amateur Championship.
The final 36 holes of the tournament will be played on Tuesday.
