MA’s Thorbjornsen Earns First PGA Tour Victory
Massachusetts native Michael Thorbjornsen earned his first win on the PGA Tour on Sunday at the Rocket Classic.
Entering the final round five-shots back of Davis Riley, Thorbjornsen fired a bogey-free 63 to finish at 18-under for the tournament and win by two shots over Xander Schauffele and three shots better than Riley.
“Every bit of success I’ve had out here is a family win. Even my sisters, they have sacrificed a lot in order for me to be in this position. It’s definitely a team effort,” Thorbjornsen told CBS Sports after the round.
For the tournament, the Wellesley native posted round son 69, 64, 66 and the final round 64 that moved him up six spots on the leaderboard.
Prior to this victory, Thorbjornsen was number 68 in the World Golf Rankings and had just two top ten finishes this season.
He is the eighth first time winner on the PGA Tour in 2026.
The PGA Tour’s regular season concludes at the Wyndham Championship next week.
