Catone Wraps up Play at World Teen Championships
Cranston’s Ishaan Catone wrapped up play at the World Teen Championships this week down at Pinehurst.
Catone played in the Boys 14-year-old division and finished in a tie for 28 out of 142 competitors.
“Had a fun time playing at the USKG World Teen Championship. The first day of the tournament I only got to play 5 holes because of rain. Then the second day it got announced the tournament would be shortened to 36 holes instead of 54. So I ended up playing 31 holes on Day 2 and finished pretty well. Ended the first round at 78 (+6), not my best. But the second round I fired a bogey-free, 68(-4) while also hitting all 18 greens and all 14 fairways. Putting wasn’t there this week, but my irons were amazing,” wrote Catone in a social media post on Saturday.
Catone finished two-over for the tournament with his second round 68 launching him 68 spots up the leaderboard.
Nathan Dunbar won the tournament at 13-under par.
Catone will next tee it up at the Rhode Island Junior Amateur this week at Pawtucket Country Club.
