Marchetti Takes Medalist Honors, 17 Players Advance to RI Am
Former URI star Eric Marchetti fired a one-under 70 to take medalist honors in the final Rhode Island Amateur qualifier on Thursday at Foster Country Club.
Marchetti won medalist honors by two shots over John Aitken and Dave Carvara, who finished a one-over.
He played for the Rams from 2013-2017.
Overall, 17 players advanced to the Rhode Island Amateur with the cut coming at six-over par.
The 2026 Rhode Island Amateur is scheduled for July 6-10 at Ledgemont.
Notables Making Cut
Beyond those three, other players to make the cut include Pawtucket’s Nicholas Gernt and La Salle star Nate Jackson.
Both of whom fired four-over 75s.
Kirkbrae legend John Auclair carded a five-over 76 to make the cut, while fellow Kirkbrae member Cameron Desante made the cut on the number at six-over.
Triggs champion Tim McGovern also made the cut at six-over.
