Gorman Takes Medalist Honors, 20 Others Advance to RI Amateur

Former Barrington star Adam Gorman fired a two-under 70 to capture medalist honors in the second to last Rhod Island Amateur qualifier on Wednesday at Fenner Hill. 

Gorman took medalist honors by one shot over Weekapaug’s Sam Powell. 

He is heading into his junior year at York College.

Including Gorman and Powell, 21 players advanced to the Rhode Island Amateur, which is set to be held at Ledgemont next month. 

The cut was four-over par.

Notables to Make Cut

Other notables to make the cut include fellow Barrington alum Cole Vieira, who fired an even par 72 to finish in a tie for third overall. 

Vieira is coming off a college season in which he helped Assumption reach the NCAA Tournament. 

Wanumetonomy’s Ethan Gerrior fired a one-over 73 to make the cut. 

Gerrior committed to Drew University to play golf back in October. 

Former Chariho star Ian Dunham made the cut at three-over, RIC star Jasper Bruins Slot made the cut on the number at four-over. 

Triggs legend Jay Amado also made the cut at four-over, along with budding star Raj Mammen.
