Tyler Bruneau Headed to Louisville

Former URI star Tyler Bruneau is headed to Louisville to continue his collegiate career, he announced on social media.

As GolfNewsRI previously reported, Bruneau ended the transfer portal alongside Luke Stennett shortly after the National Golf Invitational.

“As I felt with Chris Francoeur, I think Tyler has a unique opportunity to play professional golf. He was our best player this year, but more importantly, our best golfer. He knows how to play the game of golf as well as anyone I’ve had in 15 years,” URI Head Coach Gregg Burke told GolfNewsRI earlier this month.

Louisville is the same place that Francoeur landed after spending four years at URI.

Bruneau has two years of eligibility remaining.

Bruneau is coming off a sophomore season in which he earned top five finishes at the Rutherford Intercollegiate (3rd), and the Sacred Heart Fall Classic (5th), as well as a top ten finish the Wykagyl Collegiate.

The Rams earned team wins in two of those tournaments.

Bruneau also earned seven top 25 finishes during his sophomore season.

During his career, Bruneau was named A-10 Rookie of the Week three times and named A-10 Player of the Week once.
