Carlsson, Masterson Win RI Four-Ball Championship

The duo of Bennett Masterson and Sebastian Carlsson took home the trophy at the Rhode Island Four-Ball Championship on Wednesday at Green Valley Country Club. 

Masterson and Carlsson fired a best-ball round of 64 (7-under) to climb three spots up the leaderboard and win the tournament at 12-under par. 

Carlsson is a former Rhode Island High School State Champ out of Narragansett, while Masterson plays out of Misquamicut, where he is a club champion.

Both play for the University of Rhode Island golf team. 

The team of Sam Fuentes/Will Owens and Austin Cilley/Jon Pannone finished in a tie for second at eight-under par for the tournament.

Final Round Run 

To open the final round, Masterson saved par on the first two holes and both players made par on the third hole to stay afloat. 

The Rhody teammates duo both birdied the fourth hole to get to one-under, and then Carlsson took overr for the rest of the nine. 

Carlsson dropped birdies on the sixth, seventh and ninth holes to help the pair turn at four-under. 

On the back side, Masterson birdied the tenth hole to get the pair to five-under on the round. 

Both players saved par on 11 and 12, before Carlsson went birdie, bogey, birdie, par on holes 13-16. 

Masterson was out of those holes. 

Masterson bounced back with a birdie on 17 and Carlsson saved par on 18 to seal the win.
