URI’s Tong Advances to RBC Canadian Open Final Qualifying
URI star Josiah Tong has advanced to final qualifying for the RBC Canadian Open.
Tong, an Alberta native, fired a two-under 70 on Thursday at Northern Bear Golf Course in Canada to make the cut right on the number.
Overall, seven players advanced to final qualifying from the Northern Bear site.
Final qualifying for the RBC Canadian Open is set for Sunday, June 7 at The Pulpit Club.
Tong Advances
Tong opened the qualifying round with a bogey on the first hole, but got it right back with a birdie on the second.
He added a birdie on the sixth hole to make the turn at one-under 35.
On the back side, Tong opened with five straight pars, before making back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes.
The URI junior bogeyed the 17th hole and parred 18 to make the cut.
