La Salle star Drew MacLeod captured back-to-back Boys State Titles on Wednesday afternoon at Cranston Country Club.

MacLeod fired a two-round total of 142 to win by two shots over Cranston West’s Kailer Louangxay.

“It feels really good. I played really well yesterday (Tuesday), so it is a good confidence booster for my game. Coming into today, I had a good lead, but I still really wanted to play good and have a good team score. That’s the most important to me,” MacLeod said after the round.

MacLeod is the second player from La Salle to win back-to-back State Titles in the last six years after Max Jackson did it in 2021 and 2022.

MacLeod Wins It

MacLeod opened the final round with a four shot lead over teammate Sam Perry and Lincoln’s Luke Cavanaugh.

The UConn commit opened the final round with a birdie on the first, but followed up with a bogey on four and a double on seven after taking an unplayable from the trees.

After just missing a birdie on eight and converting a lengthy two-putt par on nine, MacLeod turned at two-over 37.

Following a par on ten, Macleod bogeyed 11, but got it back with a birdied on the 14th hole to give himself some breathing room going into the final holes.

“I felt I was pretty locked in. At times I got a little unfocused, but when I needed to be, I was focused. I had one of my teammates (Sam Perry) tracking me down on the early part of the back nine so I felt a little bit of pressure there, but glad to get it done,” said MacLeod.

MacLeod bogeyed 16 and made bogey on 18 from the back of the green to a tough pin location to take the two-shot victory.
