Adriana Eaton Wins Back-to-Back Girls State Titles

Moses Brown star Adriana Eaton captured her second straight Girls State Title on Wednesday afternoon at Cranston Country Club.
Eaton held off Johnston’s Elizabeth Kue by one shot to win her third title in four years.
She finished the tournament with a two-day score of 148, compared to Kue’s 149.
“It feels great, I don’t know if it’s fully sunken in. I was very nervous going down the stretch but, I mean, you are not always going to have you A game for golf, so you just have to play with what you have and I’m glad I was able to get it done today,” said Eaton after the round.
Eaton is the first girl to win three titles in four years since Prout’s Nicole Scola won four straight titles from 2010-2013.
She will now take a gap year to work on her game down in Florida before being a part of the college recruiting class of 2027.
Eaton Grinds Out Victory
Last year, Eaton opened the State Championship with a first round 65 and cruised the rest of the way.
This year, not so much.
Eaton opened the 2026 tournament with an even par 71 and took a three shot lead into the final round.
“I think yesterday (Tuesday) I played some pretty solid golf, I just wasn’t making too many putts and I was hitting the ball well,” said Eaton.
On Wednesday, Eaton opened with a bogey on the first hole and made another on the sixth to play the front nine at two-over.
Turning to the back side, Eaton bogeyed ten, but got it back with a birdie at 11.
However, things got interesting when Eaton doubled the 13th hole to give the rest of the field hope and made another bogey on 17.
The Kirkbrae product took a two-shot lead into 18, but a wayward tee shot led to tree trouble and a needed two-putt bogey to win.
Kue was on the green with a birdie putt, but just missed.
Eaton knocked in the knee-knocker bogey putt to clinch the title.
“Today was definitely a grind out there, every shot matters in golf. It was definitely nerve-racking, but I just try to focus on the controllables and hopefully get it done,” added Eaton.
