Round 1 of High School Golf State Championship in Books


The opening round of the 2026 High School Golf State Championship wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at Cranston Country Club. 

Final round tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. off the first tee on Wednesday.

Team Titles 

On the team side, La Salle fired a first round 287 to lead second place Hendricken by 19 shots. 

The rams enter the final round seeking their fifth straight State Championship title.  

Cranston West and Barrington sit in a tie for third place with a team score of 309. 

La Salle, Hendricken, Cranston West and Barrington are the four teams that made the cut into the final round. 

Girls Title up for Grabs 

In the girls division, defending champion Adriana Eaton holds a three-shot lead over Johnston star Elizabeth Kue

Eaton fired an even-par 71 with three birdies against three bogeys on the day. 

She is seeking her second straight State Title and her third in four years. 

Kue fired a three-over 74 to sit in second and will be paired with Eaton for the second straight round. 

They tee off at 9:27 a.m. on Wednesday. 

Barrington star Claire McTaggart carded a 76th and sits in solo third, while teammate Emma Lockhart posted a 78 to take fourth. 

Boys Title in the Balance 

Over on the boys side of things, defending champion Drew MacLeod fired a four-under 67 to lead teammate Sam Perry and Lincoln’s Luke Cavanaugh by four shots. 

MacLeod opened the with three birdies and a double bogey to turn at one-under 34. 

The UConn commit played the back nine at three-under, including birdies on 17 and 18. 

Hendricken’s Griffin Cooper and La Salle’s Brent Rollo are tied for fourth, while Cranston West super freshman Kailer Louangxay sits in sixth. 

Cooper and Rollo posted 72s, while Louangxay carded a 74.
