Mike Calef Advances to U.S. Open Final Qualifying
Defending Rhode Island Amateur champion Mike Calef is headed to U.S. Open Final Qualifying.
Calef fired a two-under 70 at Berkshire Hills Country Club to make the cut on the number.
“The U.S. Open is the biggest tournament in the world. I sign up every year to play, but you sign up knowing that it’s one in 10,000 that you’re going to get through. And I got kind of hot there, and probably changed my odds to one in 1,000,” Calef told Mass Golf after the round.
This is his first time advancing past local qualifying.
In total, the top four players and two alternates advanced from this site.
