Jimmy Roberts Receives Tim Rosaforte Distinguished Journalist Award
Broadcaster Jimmy Roberts was honored with the Tim Rosaforte Distinguished Journalist Award earlier this week at the Cognizant Classic.
The award was formed in 2021 in honor of University of Rhode Island grad, and famed golf journalist, Tim Rosaforte, who passed away in 2022.
“I’m flattered, but I think the best thing about today is that it gives us an opportunity to remember a person who represents, and still represents, the best of what we can all be. Tim was an extraordinary person, and he was a great friend. This is really something special for me,” said Roberts in a press conference Wednesday.
Throughout his storied broadcasting career, Roberts has earned 16 Emmy Awards for writing, as well as a Golf Writers Association of America award and the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
He has worked at ABC Sports, ESPN and NBC, covering everything from the Olympics to NBA Finals, Worlds Series, Super Bowls and more.
Last month, Roberts launched Big Swing Media, a digital media company that focuses on the business side of golf.
