RI Ranks Inside Top 10 in U.S. for 9-Hole Scores

For the second straight year, Rhode Island ranks inside the top ten in the U.S. for nine-hole scoring. 

According to the USGA, 30.4% of male golfers in Rhode Island are posting nine-hole scores. 

That ranks fifth in the country, two percentage points behind Iowa and a point above Massachusetts. 

South Dakota ranks number one for 9-hole scores at 32.2%. 

On the women’s side, 45.3% of female golfers in Rhode Island are posting nine-hole scores. 

That ranks sixth in the U.S. behind Iowa and a point above New Hampshire. 

Connecticut ranks first on the women’s side with 51% of rounds posted being nine holes. 

New England wise, there are four states inside the top ten on the men’s side (RI, Maine, Mass and New Hampshire), and five New England states on the women’s side (Connecticut, Maine, Mass, RI, New Hampshire). 

Across the country, there were nearly 15 million nine-hole scores posted, which is an all-time high, according to the USGA.
