URI Golf Announces 2026 Spring Schedule
The University of Rhode Island golf team has announced their schedule for the 2026 spring season.
The Rams won four times in six events during the fall season and will look to carry that momentum over to the spring.
“I have always maintained that the schedule would get stronger as the team got stronger. We’ve reached the point where we can play a lot of very good teams. I greatly appreciate the coaches who include us because we have become a dangerous team, as proven by our wins over schools like Iowa, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State last fall,” Head Coach Gregg Burke told GolfNewsRI.
Rhody resumes play in early February, but the team returns to campus next week to star workouts and practices.
“I’m expecting better play from each of the five guys that we had in the fall as good as it was. But it all begins when we get back next week going to the weight room and our indoor hitting practice,” added Burke.
Spring Schedule
Rhode Island opens the spring season at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate in Puerto Rico from February 8-10.
From there, URI will head to Florida for the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate from March 2-3 and then the Surf Club Invitational in South Carolina from March 9-10.
“Things don’t get any easier when we go to Daytona Beach and face another great field in Stetson’s very respected tournament,” Burke added. “We’re south again when we go back to Myrtle Beach and play at the Surf Club. We’ve always enjoyed that event and look to have a solid finish there as we have not always played our best in the past.”
Then it is on to April where URI will kick the month off by playing in the Wildcat Spring Invite from April 6-7 in New Jersey.
The Rams close the regular season with the Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State from April 18-19.
Luke Stennett enters that tournament as the defending champion.
Rhode Island will then compete in the A-10 championship from April 27-29 in Florida.
“We finish at Grand Cypress at the A-10 Championship and should be one of the Top Three teams in the field,” Burke said. “Right now we are rated No. 1 in the league, but we will have to prove that against a great schedule to remain at the top.”
