URI Gets Commitments from Tanner LaTorre & Michael McCormack

The University of Rhode Island Golf Team has recently received commitments from Tanner LaTorre and Michael McCormack. 

Both players will join Rhody in the fall of 2027. 

Tanner LaTorre

“It is with great excitement that I announce my verbal commitment to play Division 1 golf at The University of Rhode Island. To my family, mom, dad, and brother, thank you for supporting me and making sacrifices to help fulfill my dreams and see me succeed. To my coaches, thank you for your time and effort into developing me as a player and person over the years.To my friends, thank you for your endless amount of support and encouragement overtime. To Coach Burke and Coach Gillis, thank you for giving me the opportunity to play collegiate golf at the highest level,” writes LaTorre on an Instagram post. 

LaTorre is from New York and is the winner of the 2025 International Junior Masters. 

He was also named the Capital Region Golf Association Player of the Year.

McCormack attends Xaverian High School in Massachusetts. 

The past summer, he made a run to the semi-finals of the Massachusetts Junior Amateur where he fell to Bryant Commit Thomas Constantine.
