URI Golf Adds Two Top 500 Recruits for Class of 2026
The University of Rhode Island golf team has added two top 500 recruits for the incoming class of 2026.
Maine native Jack Quinn and New Jersey’s Mihir Roperia will both join the URI starting with the 2026-27 season.
This marks the third time in four years that the URI golf team will add, at least one, top 500 recruit.
“A couple years ago when we went after Tony Liu and Josiah Tong, we knew we were in a position to get a lot better. Having them in the program allowed us to go after Luke Stennett and Tyler Bruneau, one of the best recruiting classes in URI history,” said URI Head Coach Gregg Burke.

He added, “once they were on board we made the decision to not take anyone on the 2025 class and really go after a top player in the 2026 class. We never knew at the time we’d get two.”
Quinn and Roperia will join Liu, Tong, Stennett and Bruneau on what will be a loaded 2026-27 roster.
“After this season we lose Aidan O’Donovan who ha been very solid for us this year. Our current starting five is the most balanced in my 15 years and literally any of them could win a tournament. So to lose just one and add two incredibly talented players, along with three other returnees on the roster, will make us incredibly competitive even before the tournaments start,” said Burke.
URI also has Sebastian Carlsonn, Bennett Masterson and Owen Rooney to round out the 26-27 roster.
About Quinn
Quinn is the 2025 World Series of Junior Golf Champion and is among the most decorated players in New England.
He also tied for ninth at the 2025 New England Amateur.

In 2024, Quinn finished 12th at the Doral Jr. Classic, and was named Maine Junior Player of the Year.
“Jack is a perfect fit for us. Another northern kid who got great on his own. Being from Maine means a short season, so what he’s done is even more remarkable. He will be in the mix to start on Day one,” said Burke.
Quinn is currently in the midst of his senior year at Gardiner Area High School.
About Roperia
Roperia is the 2025 New Jersey Player of the Year (16-18 years old) after winning four straight tournaments – the NJPGA Mountain Classic, the NJPGA Junior PGA Championship, the NJPGA Junior Shootout and the NJPGA Junior Masters.
Roperia has one win, two runner-up finishes and four more top finishes in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments.
He has 10 wins, six runner-up finishes and six additional top-5 finishes in NJPGA events. He placed 38th at the Junior PGA Championship and 35th at the Men’s Orlando International Amateur.
“Mihir has played more junior tournaments than any player I’ve ever had. He will be competition ready from the beginning and, like Jack, will battle for a starting slot,” noted Burke.
