Man Assaulted with Golf Club at East Greenwich GC, Arrest Made
A golfer was assaulted with a golf club at East Greenwich Golf Club last month, and an arrest was made.
According to police, they responded to EG CC at 7:23 p.m on Friday, September 19 for reports of a “large disturbance.”
Once there, a man told police that he was struck in the back of the head with a putter following an argument between two groups (victim’s group and another group).

The argument escalated to yelling and swearing at each other, according to police, before the suspect, identified as Cameron Chase, struck the victim in the back of the head with a putter.
According to reports, following the assault, Chase ran off into the woods but was found walking down Division Road where he was arrested and charged.
The victim was taken to Kent County Hospital to be treated for injuries.
Meanwhile, according to police, Chase’s golf bag was thrown into the lake after he ran off by a member of the victim’s group.
Police note that the golf bag and clubs were worth over $4K.
Joseph Folco was arrested for vandalism and disorderly conduct.

7:23 p.m. – Police arrested a Rumford, Mass., man, 20, for felony assault and disorderly conduct after he allegedly hit a man in the back of the head with a golf club at East Greenwich Golf Club on Division Road. The man who was hit was golfing ahead of the Rumford man’s group and they were on the green when the Rumford man hit a golf ball from the tee box, in their direction. The man who was hit and the other man who was golfing with said they told the Rumford man he shouldn’t have done that. The situation devolved into an argument, then the Rumford man started swinging a golf club around – in self defense, he told police. But then he appears to have hit the other man in the back of the head then ran away. Police found the man walking on Division Road. He was taken into custody and arraigned by a justice of the peace at the station. The man who was hit was taken by EGFD rescue to the hospital.
7:23 p.m. – Police arrested a Johnston man, 38, for vandalism and disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing the Rumford man’s golf equipment, valued at $4,000, into the lake.
