Alexis Florio Advances to MA Women’s Amateur Semifinals
Alexis Florio is headed to the semifinals of the Massachusetts Women’s Amateur.
Florio beat Rebecca Skoler 4&3 in the quarterfinals on Thursday morning at Concord Country Club to advance.
She will now face top-seeded Shannon Johnson Thursday afternoon with a chance to advance to the Championship Match.
Johnson beat Lillian Guleserian one-up in their semifinal match.
Semifinal Bound
The 2020 Rhode Island Women’s Amateur Champ got off to a fast start in the match, taking a four-up lead through seven holes.
Skoler rallied by winning the eighth and ninth holes to cut Florio’s lead to just two-up with nine holes to go.
On the back side, Florio went three-up on the 11th hole, but again, Skoler answered by winning th e13th hole to keep the match tight.
This time, Florio had a response of her own, winning 14 and making birdie 15 to close out the match.
