Florio Earns 5 Seed at MA Women’s Am, Eaton & McTaggart Make Cut
Former Rhode Island Women’s Amateur Champ Alexis Florio fired a second round 67 on Tuesday in the Massachusetts Women’s Amateur at Concord Country Club.
The 67 was the lowest round of any player in the field over the course of two days.
“Today, I was just trying to improve from some of the errors that I made yesterday. Yesterday, I was still learning the course, figuring out how my game fits the course. Once I understood that better, I felt like I could really go after it today,” said Florio after the round.
Florio will now enter the match play portion of the tournament as the number five seed and face Callie Crean in the round of 32 on Wednesday morning.
Eaton and McTaggart Advance
Florio will not be the only Rhode Islander in the match play portion of the tournament.
Current Rhode Island Women’s Amateur Champion Kylie Eaton also advanced to match play and will be the 24th overall seed.
Eaton will face nine seeded Morgan Smith in the first round.

The rising sophomore at Illinois fired rounds of 80 and 77 over the course of two days.
Barrington star Claire McTaggart wil enter match play as the 25 seed and face eighth seeded Lillian Guleserian Wednesday morning.
McTaggart carded rounds of 76 and 82 over two days to make the cut.
