UPDATED: RI Open Moved from Valley to Ledgemont

Just two days before tee off, the Rhode Island Open has been moved from Valley to Ledgemont.

RIGA made the move official with an announcement on their website.

As GolfNewsRI reported, Valley was scheduled to host the RI Open for the second straight year.

“We met with the RIGA and came to an agreement that two of our greens were not up to the level we would feel comfortable giving the best possible opportunity to the competitors. We agreed if there were a venue available, it would be best for all parties and I’m happy that Ledgemont was available. Otherwise, we would have done our best to prepare for the event,” said Valley General Manager Steve DeMeo in a comment to GolfNewsRI.

Ledgemont hosted the Rhode Island Stroke Play Championship earlier this week, which was won by Harry Dessel.

The Rhode Island Open is set to take place from August 11-12 and includes local pros and amateurs alike.
