Harry Dessel Wins 2nd RI Stroke Play Championship
Harry Dessel won his second Rhode Island Stroke Play Championship on Tuesday afternoon at Ledgemont Country Club.
Dessel finished the 54-hole tournament at seven-under par to win by two shots over Max Jackson.
For the tournament, Dessel posted rounds of 68, 70, and 68 to win his second RI Stroke Play title in the last three years.
Dessel & Jackson Duel at Ledgemont
The final day of the Stroke Play Championship is a 36-hole round.
Jackson took a one shot lead over Dessel into the final 18 holes at Ledgemont, however, it was Dessel who got off to a fast start.
The former Moses Brown star birdied three of the first five holes to take an early two shot lead.
A bogey on the sixth hole would bring Dessel back one, and he and Jackson would both birdie the eighth.
Dessel made another bogey on the ninth hole, combined with a Jackson par save, the two were tied atop the leaderboard with nine to go.
Jackson would take the lead on the tenth hole when Dessel three-putted from above the hole and made bogey.

Both players parred the 11th and 12th, then on 13, Dessel drained about a 15 footer for birdie from the left side of the pin to tie things up.
Dessel and Jackson both made birdie on 14 and par on 15, leaving things tied with three holes to play.
Momentum went in favor of Dessel on 16 as he dropped his third birdie of the back nine, while Jackson made bogey.
That gave Dessel a two shot lead.
However, Dessel would bogey the 17th against a Jackson par to make it a one shot lead with one hole to go.
On 18, Dessel saved par, while Jackson made bogey to give Dessel the two shot win.
Summer of Dessel
It has been a pretty good summer to be part of Team Dessel.
Just last week, Lily Dessel captured her second RI Girls Junior Amateur in dominant fashion at Pawtucket Country Club.
She did not make it to the 15th hole in any of her matches.
Prior to that, Harry earned an alternate spot in the U.S. Amateur, finished in fifth at the New England Amateur and earlier this summer, finished 11th at the Hornblower Memorial.
Now, he tops off his summer with another RI Stroke Play Championship.
Senior Division
Brian O’Leary won the Senior Stroke Play Championship with a two round score of two-over par 144.
He posted back-to-back rounds of 72 to edge Dante Najarian and Derek Johnson by one shot.
