Rocco Capalbo Takes Medalist Honors at RI Boys Junior Am
Prout star Rocco Capalbo fired a two-under 67 at Pawtucket Country Club on Monday to take medalist honors in the Rhode Island Boys Junior Amateur.
“I played well. A lot of pars, one bogey. A lot of birdie putts that I missed, but that’s alright, just had to get it in. I played well, it was fun,” Capalbo told the media after the round.
Capalbo will be the number one seed when match play begins on Tuesday morning.
“Match play is tough, no matter what seed you are, anyone can win. But getting a high seed is always nice,” said Capalbo.
He will face 16-seed Joey Iaciofano at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Capalbo’s Round
After opening with three pars, Capalbo birdied the fourth hole to get to one-under and then added another birdie on eight to move to two-under.
His only bogey of the day came on the ninth hole to see him turn at 34.
Following a par on ten, Capalbo birdied the 11th and parred out to stay at that two-under number.
