Austin Cilley Takes Medalist Honors at RI Amateur

In the scorching heat, Austin Cilley claimed medalist honors at the 2025 Rhode Island Amateur on Tuesday at Rhode Island Country Club. 

Cilley finished at four-under for the two stroke play rounds to win by three shots. 

“I played pretty well the past couple of days, feeling good about my game and looking forward to to the challenge ahead,” Cilley told GolfNewsRI.

He will be the number one seed when the match-play portion of the tournament gets underway on Wednesday morning. 

“I’m going to try and keep it simple and hopefully carry the momentum from the past two days going forward,” Cilley added. 

His opponent is yet to be determined as there is a playoff for the final spot taking place.

Cilley’s 2nd Round 

Cilley opened the round with three straight pars before making a bogey on the fourth hole. 

He rebounded with a birdie on the sixth, followed by a bogey on the seventh. 

On the eighth hole, Cilley made eagle to get to under par for the day and turn at 35 (1-under). 

Turning to the back side, Cilley dropped birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, before giving one back with a body on the 14th. 

Cilley got that bogey right back with a birdie on the 15th to card a second round 68.
