URI’s Luke Stennett has been named to the Division I PING Northeast All-Region Team following his freshman season.
Stennett is one of 26 golfers from the region to get the recognition.
“This is wonderful recognition of the season Luke had for us. He went head-to-head with about three-fourths of this list and beat all except for a few. I know he didn’t have the finish of the season he wanted, but that will only fuel his desire to play even better next year,” said URI Head Coach Gregg Burke.
This latest honor follows Stennett being named A-10 Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference.
As a freshman, Stenntt lead Rhody to five team titles in 11 events and an appearance in the National Golf Invitational.
Stennett also racked up five top-five individual finishes, including winning the title at the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
